On 11 April 2024, during the Feria Internacional del Aire y del Espacio (FIDAE), the Carabineros de Chile (military police) officially accepted Airbus Helicopters H125 C-28 (c/n 9486) into service, marking the first of its type to be utilised by the service. It will be dedicated to training future pilots for the Prefectura Aerea, the aerial branch of the military police.
The new H125 is part of a fleet expansion plan aimed at enhancing air coverage throughout the country. It will undertake essential missions and bolster Carabineros de Chile's capabilities in training and high mountain rescues.
Pierre Marie Gout, General Manager of Airbus Helicopters Chile, explained that "At Airbus Helicopters Chile, we are committed to providing full support to Carabineros de Chile to ensure their helicopters execute their missions with maximum efficiency."
Currently, this single-engine utility helicopter serves with the country's Armed Forces and Order and Security, operating within the Army Aviation Brigade, Naval Aviation, and the Chilean Investigative Police (BAPOL, Brigada Aeropolicial).
